This page will serve as the official page to receive information and updates about the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and the Opportunity Funding Corporation (OFC) merger that took place on July 31, 2013.
OFC has become a division of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and this merger is a perfect match because both organizations share a similar mission of providing service to the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) community. Since 1987, TMCF has supported and represented students attending its 47 member-schools – all of which are public HBCUs – by helping these students acquire a high-quality college education at an affordable cost. Since 2000, OFC has helped HBCUs to develop a comprehensive entrepreneurship curriculum that would be particularly relevant in preparing young African-American men and women to become entrepreneurs.
Entrepreneurs are key to the American enterprise and TMCF will now ensure the HBCU community does its part to guarantee that there is a talented and diverse pipeline of future entrepreneurs. The announcement of the TMCF-OFC merger is a very special moment for TMCF because it represents a natural evolution of our business model from that of a purely scholarship granting organization to a business-creating and job-producing one.
