Teacher Quality and Retention Program

The Teacher Quality and Retention Program (TQRP) was designed to help teachers enhance the learning experience of students.   Now, more than ever, our students need qualified teachers who can help them overcome challenging school environments and achieve academic and personal success.  Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) graduate more minority teachers than any other source.

TQRP provides one-week summer institutes designed to give education majors experience in the application of educational theories and practices.  This training will equip future teachers with the skills they need to successfully enter high-need schools in urban and rural communities. Selected STEM majors will take part in a two-week fellowship designed to expose those considering a career in education to the latest theories and practices associated with exemplary science and mathematics instruction. Program fellows will attend one of four Institutes being held around the country.

TMCF/CDC Ambassador Program
The TMCF/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Student Ambassador Program was created in 2011 and is designed to increase interest in public health careers, and promote CDC as a preferred employer. There are numerous exceptional careers for extraordinary people at CDC. The program also serves as an opportunity for selected students interested in careers in public health to gain hands on experience and mentorship from key staff within the CDC and become ambassadors for the CDC. Through this partnership, the CDC has the opportunity to market the agency and share career opportunities within the industry, as well as share valuable information that will prepare students to compete for jobs within the federal government. It serves as one key recruitment vehicle for the CDC’s diversity efforts.
