NEW YORK – (March 28, 2011) United Student Funds, Inc. (USA Funds) of Indianapolis, has provided a $200,000 grant to the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) to provide scholarships to qualified students attending of its member schools.

“USA Funds/TMCF scholarships are critical. They make the difference between students being able to obtain a degree or not being able to secure a better future for themselves,” said Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., TMCF’s President and CEO. “Because TMCF scholarships are awarded annually, they bring with them the incentive to strive to do better each and every year, ” he added, noting that “awards are made each semester based on a verification process designed to ensure that students are meeting academic expectations and have an unmet financial need.”

USA Funds has been a major TMCF-scholarship supporter for the past several years and Carl C. Dalstrom, USA Funds’ president and CEO served as co-chair of TMCF’s 22nd

Anniversary Dinner in 2009.

“The Thurgood Marshall College Fund is successfully making a difference in the lives of the students they serve by helping them realize their dreams of postsecondary education,” said Carl C. Dalstrom, USA Funds president and CEO. “In keeping with USA Funds’ nonprofit mission to enhance access to higher education, we are pleased to support this scholarship program.”

Specifically, the USA Funds/TMCF scholarship program. The grant to TMCF is part of $3 million in higher education grants, for the quarter ending December 31, 2010, awarded to organizations in 20 states and the District of Columbia.
